NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital was one of the first surgical teaching hospitals in the United States. Its Department of Surgery was founded by a pioneer surgeon, Lewis S. Pilcher, M.D., who also founded the Annals of Surgery. Advanced and Minimally Invasive Surgery at NYP Brooklyn Methodist continues a proud tradition. Surgical ICU PAs cover a range of Surgical Specialty with work in areas including General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Trauma, ENT, Orthopedics, Urology and other surgical patients requiring acute care.

As a Physician Assistant in the Department of Surgery at NYP Brooklyn Methodist, you’ll assist in multi-specialty surgeries and inpatient floor work. Per diem PA is part of a comprehensive team covering surgical patients admitted to the hospital. PAs serve as front line providers rounding with surgical attendings, writing notes, orders, performing necessary bedside procedures, and assisting in OR. Our PAs are respected partners in care, advancing a standard of excellence that defines our culture.

About The Role

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, day shift only. No nights, weekends, or holidays.
  • Flexibility: May include surgical floor duties, consults, or OR coverage based on staffing needs.

Preferred Criteria

  • 1+ year experience in surgical floor patient management and OR

Required Criteria

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Physician Assistant studies
  • NYS PA Licensure
  • Current NCCPA Certification
  • ACLS/BLS
  • NYS Infection Control Certification
  • DEA Certification with NYS Opioid Prescriber training compliance

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.

NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.
